You think they can't think beyond it? It's like our media...who onlys shows what viewers want to read...some years ago all indians movies had same plot...rich girl poor boy. And they were all hits but now people want variety that's why webseries are blooming atp
Honestly. Yes. They can't think. Only a very limited people have that capability to create something phenomenal.

Don't go into the movies. It's a different thing. Can Indian directors make something like inception? No! Why do we fall so behind when it comes to writing sci-fi? Because, we don't have that much knowledge ourselves.

To write something great, you must have knowledge about that stuff. Christopher Nolan can do that shit like Inception, Interstellar, Tenet because he's knowledgeable about sci-fi. Also, he takes help from various intelligent people.

What about us? Can we? We can if done with the correct approach. But no one wants to... South people are obsessed with mass movies packed with too much action (some don't even makes sense). The old Bollywood is gone. New Bollywood is so shit it feels like puking...!

And... This will remain as it is. Unless someone decides to think out of the box.

I have tried it girl. The light novel shit...! I have tried it. I got 2 offers from different websites (very popular) when I was writing one of my stories (paranormal based) on one of the platforms. They contacted me. Gave me a contract. I signed it. (You need to give all the details there. Including your bank account details, signature and all, all electronic format) There was no need to worry because they are pretty famous sites and everything was legally done. No shady business. So, I signed it. But there's a catch...

You need to give chapters in an assigned time. No matter what, you have to give the chapters. No excuses. That's why they don't give contract to anyone so easily. There's a criteria for that... Good reviews, good ratings, atleast some chapters, etc.

My guide Ava (she was my guide or like a mediator between me and the light novel company) so, she asked me about locking the chapters. I gave around 15 chapters for that story and then chose to lock the rest of the chapters. But then... I wasn't able to give so much time to it. It was very hectic. It was like a full scale job (which I couldn't do it.) So, I just left it. It's still there. But nothing has happened so far...! She didn't contact me after that. :D or maybe she contacted but I just lost that mail ID (switched phones so...)

So, those 15 chapters are still there...!

It's difficult. But many are earning from those websites. They are committed.

I'm not complaining that I need more likes. I'm pretty much satisfied now. I have already crossed the threshold so, nothing excites me now that much. But it's still a fact that the number of people who read the story are too much but reviewing the update or for liking it... Only a handful of people do that. That's what I meant.
This sounds good for a retirement when you have no pressure to earn money...but is incredibly hard to convince that it will workout somehow...even if your one work is big hit... there's no guarantee that your next one is gonna be a success too. That's why it's hard to depend on writing for money. As long as you're not an established writer I don't think there are people who do it full time...and I don't think there are part time jobs in India...unless you're a delivery boy or have some sort of cab like thingy. India just makes lives a lot different for sure sighs.

That's what I meant exactly...you can either keep writing as a hobby or a job. I have seen many who do extremely well when it is a hobby and not paid and have a complete fallout when they make this a source of income...even I can complete any kind of deadline on time for any job but writing is like an open end...I might even plan the whole story today and it's not a guarantee that I might get a better idea tomorrow when actually that's how unpredictable it is. Even when you actually plot out everything there be still new ideas everytime you actually write anything. That's the part of the fun too!
When you don't get paid and write as a hobby. Yes, you'll do good. If the story is good and all... But he's doing extremely well because there's no pressure. No pressure of giving chapters on a timely date. He can just enjoy and decide to deliver whenever he wants. (Unfortunately, xf peeps don't understand that.) If I won't give update for a few days, they'll start abusing me (even though they are getting everything for granted. For free.)

That's the difference. There and here...

Writers earn a lot of money. I'm not talking about the light novel writers. I'm talking about the authors who write actual novels. They earn a lot... Like a lot.

They are full time writers. Robert Jordan (late), George RR Martin, Brandon Sanderson, Stephen King, etc. They earn a lot. Their books are used for the movie adaptations as well.

But these are full time writers. It's their job. Their level is way too above.

We are continuing to be influenced by the west...how much craze was for anime here like 10 years ago but there are actually people in 20s would watch it. That's extremely racist to think that only the westerners have the ability to think at that level...Asians are not much far behind... specially those jap and Koreans. We as a Indians need to establish ourselves first...it takes time for sure, and we can't be like...oh we'll succed in 10 years. How long Japan has been into anime against the western fantasy.... it's nearly half a century now...why has k-pop became a hit...people think it is only been there for now....but it's been like 30 years min. So, it is a tedious process...no one can't predict how the next century Hindi lit might look like?

If they can write thrillers...they can write sci fi too... sci fi only need that a some who has read science is a good writer too...us indians have a lots of engineers...we lack on the writing part again.

Again, it's not like every American director is Nolan... it's apex for them too...will they be that good forever... what would you say when some Indo-American director comes and he directs Hollywood sci-fi movies. It's gotta nothing do with race.

That's what I'm saying...people here wants to see mass action with zero sense as long as they can feel good. Also, I think that Bollywood as a whole is not setting a example nowadays...with items songs and all. Even if some actor/actress is working there...would us Indians actually pay a lil respect to a newcomer nope. On the other hand we all gaga about hollywood stars, that's what content does. Don't mind the south, it's same as Bollywood it's only riding on Bollywood's failure and it will surely go the same path as the former one without actual content.
And... This will remain as it is. Unless someone decides to think out of the box.
I for one can't sit around those useless nonsensical kicks and gimmicks...I will prefer to walk out half show instead of watching anything mass action.

I pretty much agree with everything. I think it's the logic where we lack.

Rajamouli can do a fantastic job. But there are scenes both in bahubali, RRR where he just shows you that it's a South Indian movie with illogical movesets. We lack in CGI (for now)

But I think Rajamouli can pull this off. If... If he applies a little more logic to his actions scenes and all.

I think you give a lot of credit to the director only... there's the whole backroom involved in any movie...even I don't Nolan does write script of his movies...does he?

Of course. Poori team hoti hai. But director hi main kaam karta hai. Script achhi hai ki nahi, use direct karna hai ki nahi wo bhi director hi karta hai. Team effort rehta hai. But iss se ye fact nahi badal jaata ki waha inception jaisi movies banaane ki capability hai unme.
