Update 26
The sun had barely risen above the trees when Suraj stormed away from his house, his bare feet kicking up dust on the narrow path. His face was flushed, eyes hot with frustration. He hadn’t spoken a word to Kalpana since the scolding the day before. The warmth of her lips, her breasts, her soft voice—they were gone now. Taken away in one moment of shame.
At the edge of the village, near the small irrigation canal, he found Ramesh, Amit, and Guddu tossing stones into the water.
"What do you want?" he snapped, arms folded.
Ramesh stepped forward carefully. "We just came to check on you."
"Why? You three ruined it," Suraj muttered. "She doesn’t even look at me now. She said she’ll stop. And now\... who’s going to comfort me?"
The boys looked at each other, guilt flashing across their faces.
"We didn’t mean for it to go that way," Guddu said softly. "We were curious, that’s all. We didn’t think she’d get that upset."
Suraj turned his back, arms still tight across his chest.
Amit tried next. "Look... we know it’s not the same. No one’s like Kalpana bhabhi. But you don’t have to go without care. We can ask Gita aunty she is beautiful"
"You don’t get it," Suraj said, turning slightly. "She used to call me her husband. She never said no. Sometimes, she even told me to help myself whenever I liked. She’d smile and say I was hers. Will your moms and aunties let me do that?"
The boys exchanged glances.
Ramesh nodded. "My Suhana aunty... she’s always there when I need her. She lets me suck on her breasts as long as I want. Sometimes she even feeds me while she’s working. She never says no. She might not say things like Kalpana did, but she understands."
Amit added, "My mom, Meena, is very soft now. She used to hesitate, but now she let me suck milk whenever I want. She even let Ramesh try. She lets me stay even when there’s no milk, and just holds me close. She doesn’t mind how long I stay."
Guddu smiled slightly. "Aarti maasi pretends to strict, but when she lies down in the afternoon, I know she’s waiting. She lets me feed from either side, and sometimes I fall asleep like that. Once, she let all three of us feed when we broke her window. She acts angry, but she never pushes us away."
Suraj didn’t respond immediately. The silence lingered until he finally sat down on the edge of the canal, shoulders drooping.
"It won’t be the same, I'm too old for them" he said quietly.
"No," Ramesh agreed. "But they understand. They care. And they let us stay longer, even if we don’t ask."
"We’ll ask them," Amit said. "Not just for us, but for you too. You don’t have to feel left out."
Suraj looked at them, his face softer now.
"You’d really do that for me?"
"Of course," Guddu said. "They might not be Kalpana, but they’ll help. They always do."
The boys sat together, their feet dipped into the cool water. They didn’t say much after that, but they didn’t need to. Whatever happened next, they would face it together—and they would make sure none of them went without care.
